Flooding Disrupts Traffic in Bekasi, West Java
Heavy rainfall and extreme weather conditions have caused widespread flooding in Bekasi, West Java, including a notable inundation of Jalan Duta kranji in Kotabaru, Bekasi Barat. The flooding began overnight and continues to disrupt traffic as of January 23, 2026.
According to observations by detikcom, Bekasi City’s Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) personnel are on site utilizing inflatable boats to navigate the flooded area. water levels are estimated at 90 centimeters (approximately waist-deep for an adult).
“The flooding on Jalan Duta Kranji has been occurring since last night,” stated Sarmanuddin, Logistics and Emergency Staff at the Bekasi City BPBD. “This is due to the overflow of the Cakung River.”
The overflow of the Kali Cakung river is the primary cause of the flooding, according to BPBD officials. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
