Joe Goettl and Flavia Oliveira Parks triumphed at the Belgian Waffle Ride Utah, securing solo victories in the Cedar City race.The grueling gravel race tested riders with its challenging terrain and demanding distance.
Goettl (Cinch Cycling) conquered the 116-mile (187km) course in approximately five-and-a-half hours.Carter Anderson (Ventum Racing) followed nearly four minutes later, with Griffin Hoppin taking third. Goettl reflected on the win in an Instagram post, noting the race held “a special place in my heart.” He said the inaugural edition in 2020 motivated him to strive for the top spot.
In the women’s race, Oliveira Parks (Excel Sports p/b Specialized) crossed the finish line in six hours, 13 minutes, and 55 seconds.Courtney Sullivan (Mamis p/b Incycle) trailed by almost 15 minutes, while Melissa Aitken secured third.
