Belkin’s older Wemo smart home products will stop working later this week, marking a significant shutdown in the smart home market.
Belkin sold Wemo devices primarily throughout the 2010s, largely ceasing production of its smart switches and plugs around 2022. Last year,Belkin announced the discontinued lineup, which integrates with Google Home, would lose service permanently in 2026,and that date is now almost here.
In an email this week, Belkin reminded users the Wemo app and its “cloud-based features” will shut down January 31, rendering them unusable. Users can continue operating select devices only through Apple HomeKit.
We’re reaching out with a final reminder that support for select Wemo products in the Wemo app will end in one week on January 31, 2026. After this date, the Wemo app and cloud-based features such as remote access and voice assistant integrations will no longer function. If your Wemo product is set up for use with Apple HomeKit, it will continue to function with Apple HomeKit after January 31, 2026. If your Wemo product works with thread, it will continue to function with Thread after January 31, 2026.
If your product is still under warranty on or after January 31, 2026, you might potentially be eligible for a refund.
Please visit belkin.com/wemo for more information on affected products, refund eligibility and setup instructions for continued use via Apple HomeKit. After January 31, 2026, you will no longer be able to setup your Wemo product to work with Apple HomeKit, so you must do so before that date if you want to use your Wemo product with Apple.
