Buenos Aires, Argentina – Veteran telenovela star Jorge Martínez, 78, was hospitalized this week following a suicide attempt, sending shockwaves through the entertainment world and raising concerns about mental health among older adults.

“We took care of him very much, but I think he’s going through a depression,” said Linda Peretz, director of the Casa del Teatro.Peretz revealed that a member of the maintenance staff intervened and prevented Martínez from harming himself.
