Bengaluru Techie’s Suicide Note Alleges Wife’s Family Demanded ₹3 Crore to drop False Cases
Bengaluru, India – A 24-page suicide note left behind by a Bengaluru techie who died by suicide on December 9th has sent shockwaves through the city. The note alleges harassment by his wife and her family, who, according to the deceased’s brother, demanded ₹3 crore to settle false cases against him.
Police received a call at 6 am on december 9th reporting the suicide. The deceased,who worked for a private firm in Bengaluru,was found dead inside his locked third-floor apartment.His family, residing in Uttar Pradesh, was instantly informed.
“The deceased’s brother informed us that the victim’s wife’s mother,brother,and uncle had filed false cases against the deceased and demanded ₹3 crore for the settlement of the cases,” a police statement said.
The deceased’s brother,speaking to reporters,expressed his grief and disbelief. “My entire family has been charged under different sections in a divorce case filed by my brother’s wife. If he had ever discussed it with me or our father, we would have helped him escape this situation. I want to request the government of India and the President that justice must be done to my brother if the truth is on his side; otherwise, give me the proof to show that he is wrong,” he pleaded.
Adding to the tragedy, the deceased left behind a chilling message in his suicide note. “If I win from the system, devote my mortal remains in Ganga, otherwise in a gutter outside the court,” his family quoted from the note.The note,wich was also emailed to close friends and shared in a WhatsApp group of an NGO he was associated with,detailed the alleged harassment he faced. Police also found a placard hung in his residence that read, “Justice is due.”
Adding to the complexity of the case, the deceased had reportedly pasted essential details like vehicle keys and a list of completed and pending tasks around his residence.
The police have registered a case under Section 108 3(5) of BNS and are investigating the matter further.
