Benidorm Holiday Ends in disaster: Tourist Injured in Pool accident

A holiday in Benidorm turned into a nightmare for Martin Bullen, 31, when he broke his neck and back after being pushed into a swimming pool. The incident occurred June 10 at a pool party. Bullen said an acquaintance playfully pushed him, unaware of the water’s depth.
Bullen,a single father of two,said he attempted a dive but struck his head on the pool floor. An army medic present at the party stabilized him until paramedics arrived. He was transported to a local hospital, where he received 16 stitches for a head wound and was diagnosed with three neck fractures and a broken back.
The Wigan, Greater Manchester, resident said the trip with his cousins was intended as a break from his responsibilities as a single parent. He also noted he had forgotten to purchase travel insurance before leaving.
Bullen estimates his hospital stay and flight changes cost £1,500. He now advises summer holidaymakers to avoid his “daft mistake” and secure travel insurance.
Bullen said,”Somebody pushed me into the pool and I didn’t know it was a shallow pool.”
