The Niger River basin is a vital and complex asset for West and Central Africa, home to approximately 100 million people. As the third-longest river on the continent, spanning 4,200 kilometers, it traverses nine countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali, Niger, and Nigeria.
These nine countries will convene in Cotonou to discuss pressing issues related to the development of the Niger basin, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation and collaboration in addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by this critical resource.
