Bergen Plagued by False Fire Alarms: “unacceptable Actions Must Have Consequences,” Says Center Manager
Bergen, Norway – A wave of false fire alarms triggered across bergen on Monday afternoon has prompted a police investigation and strong condemnation from local officials. The bergen storsenter, Bergen City Hall, Hotel Opus XVI, and the Faculty of Law were all targeted in a series of incidents that stretched from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The Bergen Storsenter was hit particularly hard, with alarms sounding twice within an hour. Center manager Odd Rune Bjørge expressed his outrage, stating, “We will report and claim compensation. The action is unacceptable and must have consequences.”
According to Bjørge, the alarms at the Storsenter were triggered manually, and security footage revealed a young individual suspected of tampering with fire alarms in multiple locations within the shopping center. the fire department responded to a number of these false alarms, diverting resources and potentially delaying responses to genuine emergencies.
Shortly after the Storsenter incidents, alarms went off at Bergen City Hall and Hotel Opus XVI,followed by another at the Faculty of Law.
Jostein Steinland-Hauge at the 110 Central West acknowledged the unusual pattern, stating at 4:30 PM, “It’s a bit striking, but it’s not something we want to speculate on now.”
Police are currently investigating the incidents, reviewing security footage, and working to identify the suspect. The motive behind the false alarms remains unclear. Authorities are urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and assist with the investigation.
