Berkshire Bank Volunteers Boost Community Service Impact

SPRINGFIELD — Berkshire bank’s recent⁢ Xtraordinary Week (X Week) saw 700 employees dedicate⁤ their time to community ‍service, partnering with 31 nonprofit organizations. The initiative, held June 9-13, aimed to uplift communities where the bank operates.

The bank’s volunteer efforts,a key component ⁣of their community service impact,spanned Massachusetts,New York,Connecticut,vermont,and Rhode Island.More than⁤ 35 ⁤projects addressed critical issues such as hunger and homelessness, while also focusing on enhancing the overall well-being of residents.

In the Pioneer Valley, Berkshire Bank employees volunteered⁣ at the Zoo in Forest⁤ Park & Education Center in Springfield,⁣ the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts in Chicopee, and White ⁢Oak School ⁣in Westfield.

The XTEAM ⁢Employee Volunteer and Giving Program, named after the⁤ bank’s logo, ​encourages employees⁢ to​ actively participate⁢ in community service​ and corporate volunteerism throughout⁤ the year.in 2024, 100% of Berkshire employees volunteered, contributing over​ 11,500 hours through more than 250 company-sponsored projects.

Employees can also use up to 16 hours of paid time off annually⁣ to volunteer with the⁤ nonprofits of their choice, further amplifying the bank’s‍ community‍ service impact.

“Giving⁤ back is a core part of who‌ we are as a company because we believe that lasting impact starts with local action,” said Lori Kiely, ⁤managing director of the⁢ Berkshire Bank ​Foundation. “Throughout X Week, our employees helped build stronger, more resilient communities — ⁣and stronger​ connections with one another.”
