Berkshire Medical Center Earns Top Grade for Patient Safety
PITTSFIELD — Berkshire Medical Center (BMC) has been awarded an “A” Hospital Safety Grade by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit institution that monitors hospital performance in patient safety. This recognition underscores BMC’s commitment to providing high-quality care and minimizing medical errors.
The Leapfrog Group assigns grades ranging from “A” to “F” based on more than 30 metrics. These metrics include assessments of errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as evaluations of the systems hospitals have implemented to prevent such issues. The hospital safety role is paramount in ensuring positive patient outcomes.
Dr. James Lederer, chief medical officer and chief quality officer for Berkshire Health Systems, said the “A” grade affirms the healthcare team’s dedication to quality care and reflects their commitment to serving the Berkshire community. The hospital’s patient safety role is a key focus.
