Four 20-year-old suspects were taken into provisional detention following a commercial break-in at a store on rue de l’Union in Biel/Bienne and a 25-kilometer police pursuit into the Bernese Jura, according to the Bernese cantonal police. Responding officers arrived to find a burglary in progress, managing to detain one suspect on the scene while three others fled empty-handed in a getaway vehicle. The vehicle initiated a high-speed pursuit with emergency lights and sirens activated, traveling through Biel/Bienne before heading toward the Bernese Jura along the Reuchenette road and the A16 highway.
Tracking and Arrests in Tramelan
The chase ended in Tramelan on rue Virgile-Rossel, where the three occupants abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot. The Bernese cantonal police deployed a police dog and two drones to track the fleeing individuals across the area. Officers successfully located the three men near a forest edge south of Tramelan. They were taken into custody under the threat of service weapons and offered no physical resistance. In addition to the cantonal police forces, personnel from the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security assisted with the operation. All four suspects, each aged 20, are currently held in provisional arrest while the investigation proceeds.
