Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach,known‍ for their roles in⁤ “The Bear,”‍ are set to make their Broadway debuts in “Dog Day Afternoon.” The play,a stage adaptation of Sidney Lumet’s acclaimed 1975 crime drama,is scheduled to open in the spring of 2026.

The stage production of “Dog Day‍ Afternoon” will bring the story of ⁣a chaotic Brooklyn bank robbery to the theater. Set during⁢ the summer of 1972, the play follows a novice criminal whose heist quickly spirals into a hostage situation, drawing intense media attention⁤ and the⁢ involvement of ⁣the FBI.

Bernthal will play Sonny Amato, a character inspired by Al Pacino’s role in⁣ the film. Moss-Bachrach will take on the role of Sal DeSilva, originally portrayed by⁢ John Cazale. Additional casting details will be announced⁢ later.
