Farmingdale, NY – For⁣ years, the imposing sign at the frist tee of Bethpage Black has served as both a welcome and a warning: “The Black Course Is An Extremely Difficult Course Which We Recommend Onyl ⁣For Highly Skilled Golfers.” It’s a message etched in the minds of countless golfers,a stark reminder of the challenge that awaits on this notoriously‍ tough public⁢ course,affectionately known as “The People’s Country Club.”

But as the world prepares for the 2025⁣ Ryder Cup at Bethpage black next week, a piece of that legend has been temporarily⁤ removed. The iconic warning sign ⁢is gone, a ⁢casualty of the⁤ massive preparations underway to host the biennial showdown between the united States and Europe.

Ryder Cup Director Bryan ⁤Karns confirmed⁣ the sign’s removal to The New York Post, explaining⁢ that the construction of a sprawling 5,000-seat grandstand encircling the first tee and 18th green necessitated the change. The new first‍ tee,⁤ positioned 40 yards ahead of the original, woudl have placed the sign directly beneath the grandstand, rendering it invisible to spectators and players alike.

While the absence of the sign might disappoint some, the⁤ spirit ⁢of Bethpage Black’s challenge remains. The course, which has hosted multiple U.S. Opens and PGA Championships, is‍ still expected to provide a stern test for the world’s best golfers.
