Venezuela Criticizes Colombia’s Stance on Maduro’s Re-Election

The Venezuelan government has criticized Colombian Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo for stating that the Colombian government will not recognize Nicolás Maduro’s new presidential term unless he presents evidence of his re-election.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil responded to Murillo’s comments on Telegram, stating that Colombia’s refusal to recognize the results of Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) is an attack “from behind”.

Gil accused Murillo of being influenced by the extreme right and the United States, saying that he is “attacking from behind, with false narratives that he cannot discuss face to face”.

Gil also warned that Venezuela will respond to Colombia’s interference in its internal affairs and that they will regret their actions.
