Tina Knowles Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis⁤ After Mammogram ‍Delay

Tina Knowles, mother of pop superstar Beyoncé, recently disclosed that ⁤she was diagnosed ‌with breast cancer ‌after postponing a⁤ scheduled mammogram.The 71-year-old author of “matriarch” is⁣ now urging women to​ prioritize ‍regular screenings as a crucial preventative ‍measure.

Diagnosis Followed Launch of Hair Care Line

Knowles, also mother to Solange, 38, received the diagnosis in July, when doctors discovered stage 1 breast cancer in her left ‍breast, she said. The ⁤news ‍came​ as⁣ she and Beyoncé were launching⁣ their hair care line and while Knowles was completing her book, “Matriarch.”

Sharing Her⁣ Story for Awareness

“I hesitated to share that experience (in the book) because I am very reserved,” Knowles said. “But I decided to do it because I think it contains ‌many lessons for othre women.”

She emphasized the importance of regular⁢ testing, stating, “And I think, as women, sometimes we are so busy and so busy, but you have to test. Because if⁣ I had not done it in time, I shudder in thinking about what could have happened to me.”

Mammogram delay Due to ⁣Pandemic

Knowles admitted that she had missed her​ scheduled mammogram appointment. “I forgot that I did ‍not go to do the test two years ⁢before‍ what I should,” she explained,adding that the COVID-19⁣ pandemic contributed to the delay. “Because the Covid arrived, they called me and canceled me, and they told me: ‘We‍ will call you when‌ we do tests again.’ And I thought I had already done ‍it. So ⁣you can’t play with that.”

Prosperous Surgery and Recovery

Late last year,⁤ Knowles underwent surgery to remove the tumor ⁤and also had a breast reduction. “I’m very well,” she said. “without cancer and very lucky that God ‌would allow me to detect it in⁢ time.”
