Crimes of Rebel Militias in Eastern Sudan: Public Prosecution to Take Action
Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, has directed the Public Prosecution to monitor the crimes of rebel militias in eastern Sudan and open reports against their perpetrators in national and international courts.
During a meeting with the Attorney General, Mawlana Al-Fatih Muhammad Tayfour, Jaber was briefed on the course of investigations and trials conducted by the National Committee to investigate cases of violations of national law and international humanitarian law.
Tayfour explained that the legal procedures related to the arrest of the accused, the transfer of cases to the courts, and the issuance of preventive judgments are witnessing tangible progress. Additionally, reports are being opened regarding the widespread crimes that occurred recently in the province of Al-Jazira.
The meeting also discussed issues relating to the recovery of fugitive defendants who are outside the country and the declaration of new groups as “terrorists” in accordance with the decisions to be published soon by the technical committee.
The Public Prosecutor assured the citizens of Sudan that the performance of the Public Prosecution has witnessed clear progress. He emphasized that the prosecution will pursue all those who commit crimes, violate the honor of Sudan, steal their money, and shed their blood, to bring them to trials that meet the requirements for a fair trial.
