Bhopal, India – A shocking act of violence unfolded at a snooker club in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on February 15, leaving a 10th-grade student critically injured after being stabbed 27 times in just 30 seconds. The brutal attack, captured on CCTV footage that has since gone viral, has ignited public outrage and prompted a police investigation.

The victim, a 16-year-old resident of the Gautam Nagar police station area and a regular at the Ganesh Chowk snooker club, was ambushed by two fellow 10th-grade students. Witnesses described the attackers’ entry as “film-style,” bursting into the club with a swiftness and aggression that immediately signaled intent to harm. Without exchanging a word, the two minors launched a relentless assault, repeatedly stabbing the victim with knives and a dagger.

The CCTV footage, which surfaced on February 22, reveals the sheer ferocity of the attack. The victim sustained over 10 deep cuts on one wrist and suffered the severing of two fingers on his other hand as he desperately attempted to defend himself. Severe wounds were also inflicted on his shoulders and back. Despite the horrific injuries, the victim managed to escape the club and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains under medical care.

Authorities have revealed that the motive behind the attack stemmed from a prior dispute. Investigators determined that the victim had slapped one of the attackers during an earlier altercation, reportedly related to a disagreement during a pool game. Seeking retribution, the two assailants planned and executed the attack, tracking the victim to the snooker club with the intention of carrying out their revenge.

The Tila Jamalpura Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the incident. Initially, charges were filed under sections related to assault. However, in response to the widespread public outcry and the graphic nature of the CCTV footage, authorities have committed to upgrading the charges to more serious sections of the law once the official medical report is finalized.

Both of the accused, also 16-year-old students attending the same coaching centre as the victim, were initially detained and served notices before being released. Sub-Inspector Manipal Singh Bhadauria stated that further action will be taken based on the extent of the victim’s injuries as determined by the medical report.

This incident echoes a disturbing trend of youth violence, coming months after a similar case in Pune where a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed by a classmate inside a coaching centre classroom. The Bhopal attack underscores the growing concerns surrounding safety and security for minors, and the potential for escalating conflicts to result in extreme violence.

The release of the CCTV footage on social media platforms, including Instagram, has further amplified the shock and outrage surrounding the incident. The graphic nature of the video has prompted calls for stricter measures to address youth violence and ensure the safety of students both inside and outside of educational institutions.

As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on gathering further evidence and preparing to file more severe charges against the accused. The case serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of unresolved conflicts and the urgent need for intervention and support systems to address the root causes of youth violence.
