The match marked the first time the two Brazilian players had competed against each othre on a hard court. Haddad demonstrated early dominance with powerful serves and strong play in the first set.While Pigossi mounted a challenge in the second, Haddad maintained control to close out the match.
Haddad will now face Renata Zarazua of Mexico, currently ranked 84th in the WTA rankings, in the quarterfinals. The match is scheduled for Friday, February 12th, at approximately 4:00 PM local time.
