Biden urged Americans to “cool passions” after Trump’s election victory

Biden urged Americans to “cool passions” after Trump’s election victory

November 8, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor News

US President Joe Biden today called on Americans to “cool passions” after Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election on Tuesday and tried to calm fellow Democrats who are worried about the return of the Republicans to the White House, Reuters reported .

“Losing is inevitable. Surrendering is unforgivable”Biden said in his speech in the Rose Garden of the White House in the presence of his staff, disappointed by the election defeat of US Vice President Kamala Harris. “One loss does not mean we are defeated”Biden noted.

In his speech from the White House, the president from the Democratic Party emphasized the need to reduce political tension in the country, France Press noted. This is Biden’s first speech since the announcement of the victory of Trump, who returns to the White House for a second term.

“You can’t love your country only when you win. You can’t love your neighbor only when you are of the same mind. One thing I hope we can do is see each other not as enemies but as Americans, it doesn’t matter who you voted for”he emphasized in his statement.

America’s electoral system is fair, just and transparent. “She can be trusted whether you lose or win”Biden pointed out, adding that “in a democracy, the will of the people always prevails.”

“We have lost this battle. The America of your dreams calls you to stand up, he continued. “America stands up. We will get through it, but we have to stay committed.”Biden recalled.

Some Democrats blame him for Harris’ defeat, saying he shouldn’t have run in the first place. Eighty-one-year-old Biden withdrew from the race in July after a disappointing performance in televised debates with Trump, Reuters recalled.

At the same time, Reuters points out that Elon Musk, the owner of the Tesla company, defined as the richest person in the world and a donor to the Trump campaign, can enter the new American government. The agency reminds that Musk was promised a role in the administration of the Republican leader returning to the White House. The same is true of Robert Kennedy Jr., who ran as an independent at the beginning of the presidential campaign.
