China Continues to⁢ Behave Aggressively, ⁣Testing the US and its Allies

US President Joe Biden’s private ‍comments that China is testing⁤ the US and its allies in ‍the Indo-Pacific region were revealed through a microphone that was turned ‌on.

According‌ to⁣ Bloomberg, AFP, and the Associated Press, President Biden made full remarks in front of reporters at the Quad country summit held in the United States on the 21st local time, and said, “China continues to behave aggressively, testing all of us throughout‌ the ‌region.”

President ‌Biden emphasized⁤ that this⁤ is happening on many⁣ fronts, including economic and technological issues,‍ and said, “We ⁢believe that fierce ‍competition requires fierce diplomacy.”

He also added, “We believe that Xi Jinping is trying to focus on‍ domestic economic‌ issues and reduce⁤ disruption in ⁤foreign relations, and he ⁣is trying to free up some diplomatic space to ⁤aggressively pursue China’s interests.”

Unfiltered⁢ Comments Through‌ the Microphone

President Biden’s⁣ comments were made to other Quad leaders and were meant to be made ‌privately, but were announced unfiltered through the microphone ⁢turned on.

Bloomberg News reported that this appeared to be a mistake.

Potential Impact ⁣on the Quad ⁤Leaders’ Statement

AFP assessed that President Biden’s ⁤comments could undermine the⁣ careful move taken by the leaders of ⁤the ⁢Quad by not ⁤directly mentioning ‍China in the ⁢’Wilmington Statement’ ⁣published after the meeting.
