The Flowing Tide pub has a long history of being a popular spot for actors from the nearby Abbey Theatre. However, it faced challenges during the Rising.

In the early 1990s, I enjoyed a pint at The Flowing Tide. I was invited by actor Jim Bartley, who was well-known at the time. He starred in the RTÉ soap opera Fair City. At that moment, I was a young reporter for the Evening Press.
