IRVING, Texas – Arizona State Swim and Dive dominated the latest Big 12 Conference weekly awards, securing three honors following a dual meet victory against Arizona on February 12, 2026. The conference recognized Sun Devil swimmers Ilya Kharun and Remi Fabiani, along with freshman Albane Cachot, for their outstanding performances.

Ilya Kharun was named the Men’s Swimmer of the Week, marking his ninth career weekly honor and second of the current season. The junior swept both butterfly events against the Wildcats, clocking in at 44.24 in the 100-yard butterfly and 1:38.58 in the 200-yard butterfly. These times represent improvements from his previous performances at the Big 12 West Championships, solidifying his position as a top contender in the conference heading into the postseason. Kharun also contributed to the Sun Devils’ winning 200-yard medley relay (1:20.81) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:15.36), posting a split of 18.31 in the latter.

Graduate student Remi Fabiani earned the Men’s Newcomer of the Week award for the fourth time this season. Fabiani secured victories in both the 100-yard freestyle (41:57) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:32.27) against Arizona. He also contributed a 18.32 split in the 200-yard freestyle relay, helping the ASU-B squad to a second-place finish.

Freshman Albane Cachot made a significant splash, breaking the Arizona State program record in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.82, becoming only the second Sun Devil to dip below the 48-second mark in the event. She also won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:44.34, a personal best and the seventh-fastest time in school history. Cachot’s performances came after joining the team at the start of the spring season.

Beyond the Sun Devil sweep, other athletes were also recognized by the Big 12. Utah’s Elias Petersen was named Men’s Diver of the Week after sweeping the springboard events in a rivalry meet against BYU. The senior earned first-place finishes on both the 1-meter (370.30) and 3-meter (398.55) boards, contributing to a dual-meet win for the Utes. Here’s Petersen’s third Conference recognition this season and sixth of his career.

Arizona’s Eleni Gewalt earned the Women’s Swimmer of the Week honor, sweeping the breaststroke events in her dual meet against Arizona State with winning times of 59.13 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:11.39 in the 200-yard breaststroke. She also posted a season-best time in both races and contributed to Arizona’s winning 200-yard medley relay with a breaststroke split of 26.58.

Houston’s Michelle McLeod was recognized as the Women’s Diver of the Week, delivering three top-two finishes at Rice. She won the platform event (318.38) and the 3-meter event (339.90), while finishing second on the 1-meter board (295.20). Her score on the platform marked a personal best, earning her fifth weekly award this season.

The Sun Devils will now turn their attention to the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships, scheduled to begin on February 24 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, where they will aim to defend their conference titles.
