BIGBANG has officially returned to the global stage with a triumphant performance at Coachella 2026, marking their 20th anniversary as a group. The K-pop legends took the Outdoor Theatre stage on April 12, delivering an hour-long set that served as both a career retrospective and a statement of intent for renewed group activity.
The performance marked the trio’s first full-scale group appearance since their Last Dance tour in 2017, with G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung sharing the stage for the first time in nearly a decade. Former member T.O.P did not appear in person but was featured through pre-recorded vocals during the closing song “Still Life” (2022).
Opening with high-energy tracks like “Bang Bang Bang” (2016), “Fantastic Baby” (2012), and “Sober” (2015), the set quickly energized the crowd before transitioning into emotional fan favorites such as “Lies” (2008), “Haru Haru” (2008), and “Loser” (2015). Throughout the performance, fans waved the group’s signature crown-shaped light sticks and sang along to Korean lyrics, underscoring BIGBANG’s enduring influence across generations of K-pop listeners.
Taeyang addressed the milestone directly during the set, stating, “2026 is our 20th year as BIGBANG. The years have flown by so fast. We already spent half our lives together and I’m so grateful to share our music and our passion with all of you. This stage tonight—Coachella—means a lot to us.” He also used the moment to flag his upcoming solo album and pay tribute to the group’s core fanbase, the V.I.Ps.
G-Dragon echoed the sentiment, telling the audience, “It took us a long time to get here. B to the I to the G to the Bang is back.” The performance came after years of anticipation, as BIGBANG had originally been scheduled to debut at Coachella in 2020 before the pandemic forced its cancellation.
The Coachella appearance was confirmed as the first of multiple planned activities for the group’s 20th anniversary year. Following their Sunday performance, BIGBANG announced plans to embark on a world tour later in 2026 to celebrate two decades since their debut.
The return has been widely recognized as a significant moment in K-pop history, with outlets noting that the group successfully bridged their legacy with a forward-looking message. Their Coachella set was described as both a celebration of past achievements and a clear signal that BIGBANG is ready for renewed full-group activity after years of individual pursuits.
