Big Thief Announces New Album ‘Double Infinity’

Big Thief is set to release thier new album, double Infinity, on Sept. 5 via 4AD. The album’s led single,”Incomprehensible,” is available now,showcasing the band’s signature indie rock sound with experimental textures.
“Incomprehensible” blends Big Thief’s familiar sound with guitar feedback and horns. Adrianne Lenker’s lyrics explore themes of vulnerability and self-acceptance.
double Infinity marks Big Thief’s first full-length release in three years, following 2022’s Dragon New warm Mountain I Believe in You. The band recorded the album in New york City, emphasizing live takes and improvisation, with Dom Monks producing.
The album features contributions from Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, and others. Double Infinity is also Big Thief’s first album as bassist Max Oleartchik’s departure in July 2024.
Big Thief has announced a North american tour to support Double Infinity, beginning Sept. 17 in Sacramento, California, and concluding Nov. 7 in Houston.
In recent years, Big Thief has released “Vampire Empire” and the Passional Relations EP, with proceeds from the EP benefiting Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts. The new album promises a fresh exploration of their sound.
