Bill Murray, the comedic icon who helped define Saturday Night Live in its early years, has hinted at a possible return to the show after a 25-year hiatus.
During a recent appearance on the New Heights podcast hosted by NFL stars Travis and jason kelce, the 74-year-old Murray revealed, “I told ’em I’d like to host one this year. So maybe if I get organized. I think I did it two other times when I was there. I’d like to try it one more time. It might be the last time to try it.”
Murray’s last hosting gig on SNL was back in February 1999, earning him a coveted spot in the Five Timers club. while he’s made cameo appearances since then,a full-fledged hosting return would be a major event for both Murray and the show.
The prospect of Murray’s return comes at a time when SNL has faced criticism from some quarters about the quality of its current cast.Though, murray was quick to defend the show’s current performers, stating, “Peopel always give me a hard time about, ‘Oh, the original show was so great and it’s lousy now.’ And I say, ‘No, it’s not.’ The show that’s on now, they do stuff that’s just as good as anybody ever did, all the time.”

“I told ‘em I’d like to host one this year. So maybe if I get organized. I think I did it two other times when I was there. I’d like to try it one more time. It might be the last time to try it,” he said.
