The Mysterious Death of Japan’s ‘Don Juan’: Ex-Wife Denies Allegations

The first trial involving the death of Kosuke Nozaki, a Japanese businessman who called himself the country’s ‘Don Juan’, was held on the 12th. Nozaki’s ex-wife, Saki Sudo, who was identified as the perpetrator, completely denied the accusations.

According to reports, Saki Sudo (28) pleaded not guilty in the first trial, despite prosecutors believing she committed the perfect crime using stimulants. The prosecution alleged that Sudo searched for keywords such as ‘perfect crime drug’ and ‘excessive stimulant use’ on the internet about two months before Nozaki’s death.

Furthermore, it was reported that Sudo ordered more than a lethal dose of stimulants through a human trafficking site a month before Nozaki’s death. However, Sudo’s lawyer appealed, stating that the prosecution must prove that Sudo could have given Nozaki a lethal dose of stimulants and that Nozaki would never have consumed stimulants on his own.

The prosecution noted that Sudo was the only person with Nozaki at the estimated time of his death. Nozaki’s inheritance is worth around 1.5 billion yen (14.1 billion won), and Sudo, as his wife, has the right to inheritance. However, if Sudo is found guilty of murder, she will not be able to inherit the fortune.

Nozaki was known for his autobiography, ‘Don Juan of Kishu, the man who gave 3 billion yen (about 30.6 billion won) to 4,000 beautiful women’, which detailed his history with women. The book included statements such as “His only desire is sexual desire” and “The reason I make money is to have sex with beautiful women.”

Nozaki first met Sudo at Haneda Airport in 2017 and proposed to her, saying, “Will you be the last woman?” They married on February 8, 2018, but Nozaki died three months later.

Key Facts:

  • Kosuke Nozaki, a Japanese businessman, died of acute stimulant poisoning in May 2018.
  • Saki Sudo, Nozaki’s ex-wife, was accused of murdering him and pleaded not guilty in the first trial.
  • Nozaki’s inheritance is worth around 1.5 billion yen (14.1 billion won), which Sudo will not be able to inherit if found guilty of murder.
