Bitcoin dropped below 82,000 dollars during Asian trading, extending a broad market downturn driven by shifting institutional ETF flows, soaring oil prices, and rising Treasury yields.

Liquidations Sweep Through Crypto Markets

The cryptocurrency market faced intense turbulence as leveraged positions unraveled across major exchanges. Price declines triggered 488.61 million dollars in total liquidations over a 24-hour period, affecting 118,142 traders.

Long positions accounted for 406.48 million dollars, or 83.2 percent, of those liquidations. Ethereum led individual asset liquidations with 115.19 million dollars, followed by Bitcoin at 106.61 million dollars and Solana at 26.97 million dollars.

Institutional Outflows and Macro Pressures

The downturn followed a sudden reversal in institutional investment products. United States spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded 635 million dollars in net outflows, interrupting a recovery that had brought in 1.1 billion dollars earlier in the week to offset previous losses.

Broader financial markets also pressured digital assets. Brent crude oil prices surpassed 110 dollars per barrel amid escalating Middle East tensions. Meanwhile, the benchmark 10-year US Treasury yield pushed toward 5.24%–5.3%, making interest-bearing assets more attractive than risk-sensitive cryptocurrencies.

Recovery Outlook and Monetary Policy

Market analysts offered divergent views on the path forward for digital assets. Caroline Mauron, co-founder of Orbit Markets, stated that stock market weakness brought Bitcoin back within its recent trading range and suggested the asset could retest the 85,000 dollar threshold in the coming days, though the Federal Reserve’s restrictive monetary policy stance continues to weigh on sentiment.

Looking further ahead, Pratik Kala from digital asset hedge fund Apollo Crypto expressed confidence that Bitcoin is demonstrating strong resilience against macroeconomic shocks and predicted a potential upward trend, even as market values hover roughly one third below the all-time peak of over 126,000 dollars reached a year prior.
