The drop erased a morning rally that had briefly pushed the oldest and best-known cryptocurrency past 87.000 US-Dollar for the second time in the week. The sharp reversal unfolded rapidly on Wednesday after a period where Bitcoin had gained nearly 2.000 Dollar in less than 12 hours.

Resistance Rejection and the 2.000 Dollar Sell-Off

Bitcoin’s upward movement stalled after it failed to sustain momentum above the 87.000-Dollar-Marke resistance ceiling. Following a rejection at that level, the asset drifted down before finding temporary stability just below 85.300 US-Dollar. A brief recovery attempt failed to reach 86.000 US-Dollar, sparking an intense wave of selling. During a 30-minute window, the price dropped by 2.000 Dollar to touch a low of 83.508 US-Dollar. Although a small rebound pushed prices back toward 84.800 US-Dollar, the market settled into a lower range, reflecting a 2.7 percent loss over a 24-hour period. This contraction pulled Bitcoin’s market capitalization down from 1,74 Billionen Dollar to under 1,7 Billionen Dollar.

Margin Wipeout Across Long Positions

The sudden market shift inflicted heavy losses on traders using borrowed funds to hold bullish positions. Coinglass data cited by news.bitcoin.com indicates that out of 171 Millionen US-Dollar in leveraged Bitcoin positions wiped out over 24 hours, long positions accounted for 131 Millionen US-Dollar, or more than three-quarters of the total.

Market Impact and Analyst Outlook

The broader digital asset market absorbed the shock as the sell-off extended to alternative coins. Total liquidations for long positions across the entire crypto market reached approximately 441 Millionen US-Dollar, contrasted with 142 Millionen US-Dollar for short positions. According to the analyst, the asset frequently tests lower zones to validate them as new support levels after briefly breaching resistance. Rekt Capital emphasized that Bitcoin must hold support around 80.000 US-Dollar to confirm a wider macro breakout, while stabilization above 84.000 US-Dollar hints at an attempt to build a higher low.
