Bitkraft Ventures expands Web3 Gaming Investment Team

Bitkraft Ventures, an early-stage game investment firm managing $1 billion in assets, is reinforcing its commitment to Web3 gaming investments. The firm announced the promotions of Carlos Pereira to general partner and Jonathan Huang to partner.Matt Halstead, formerly with the Teacher Retirement System of texas, joins as a venture partner.
Pereira, who has spearheaded Bitkraft’s Web3 strategy since 2022, has been pivotal in backing companies like Immutable and Karate Combat. Huang,who joined Bitkraft in 2023,will focus on consumer platforms and creator ecosystems across Asia.Halstead’s addition is seen as a strong endorsement of Web3 gaming as a legitimate investment category.
Despite challenges in the Web3 gaming space, bitkraft is doubling down on its belief that blockchain technology will redefine digital rights and economies. Pereira stated that Bitkraft has a competitive edge in consumer applications that utilize gamification and financialization.

Huang’s promotion is expected to solidify Bitkraft’s position in Asia, recognizing the region’s potential for Web2 and Web3 innovation. Halstead’s experience as an early institutional investor in crypto is considered a valuable asset to the firm.
Bitkraft launched its Web3 Gaming fund in 2021, expanding its investment focus. The firm has since grown its assets under management and broadened its global presence, including a new location in India.
Pereira said Web3 has unlocked new creative and economic models. Huang added that blockchain adoption is scaling, making it a pivotal moment to back the next generation of Web3 founders.
“I joined Bitkraft as I believe their vision for Web3 isn’t just forward-thinking, it’s transformative,” Halstead said.
