A contestant on the upcoming series of BBC One’s The Apprentice is facing criticism after old social media posts containing anti-Muslim language surfaced. Levi Hague has apologized for the comments, which were made more than a decade ago.
The Sun on Sunday first reported the story, highlighting “fury at anti-Muslim posts.” The BBC has stated it has requested further assurances from the production company regarding its social media vetting process, noting it was not completed to a satisfactory standard.
“Given the process has not been completed to a satisfactory standard in this instance,” the BBC said in a statement, “we have asked the production company for further assurances on their social media checks.”
The Apprentice is produced by an autonomous production company.
