Blackpink, the global pop sensation, has been recognized as Time magazine’s 2022 Entertainer of the Year. This achievement marks the four-member group as only the second K-pop act to receive this honor,following BTS in 2020. The group consists of Jennie, Jisoo, lisa, and Rosé.
Formed by YG Entertainment, the south Korean record label known for its rigorous star-search and training programs, Blackpink achieved international fame soon after their debut in 2016. Their initial LP, “The Album,” quickly surpassed one million sales after its 2020 release, solidifying their place in the music industry.
In a Time feature accompanying the Entertainer of the Year award, the group reflected on their journey, from their 2019 Coachella performance to their recent showing at the VMAs with “Pink Venom.”
