BLACKPINK’s Jisoo Opens Up About Debut Solo Album and Managing Pressure

JISOO is preparing to release her debut solo full-length album, aiming to expand her musical identity beyond her previous releases. In an interview with V Magazine published May 6, 2026, the BLACKPINK singer discussed the creative direction of the project and her methods for managing the high expectations accompanying the launch.

While JISOO has previously released singles and an EP titled AMORTAGE in 2025, this upcoming project marks her first full-length solo album. She indicated that the expanded format of the album allows her to explore a more diverse sound.

Since I’m preparing a full-length album this time, I’m working on showing a wider range of music.

The singer expressed a desire for the project to reveal previously unseen aspects of her artistry to her audience.

Solo Trajectories Within BLACKPINK

JISOO is the final member of BLACKPINK to venture into a full-length solo LP. Her bandmates have already achieved significant commercial success with their respective solo albums, all of which charted on the Billboard 200 in recent years.

LISA released Alter Ego, JENNIE released Ruby, and ROSÉ released Rosie. These projects established a precedent for the members’ individual success on the global charts prior to JISOO’s current preparations.

This individual focus follows a period of group activity. BLACKPINK reunited to release the EP DEADLINE in February 2026. That release occurred shortly after the conclusion of the DEADLINE World Tour, which wrapped in January 2026.

Managing Expectations and Pressure

Given the success of her group members’ solo efforts and the anticipation from her fanbase, JISOO acknowledged the mental toll of the spotlight. She admitted to V Magazine that receiving so much attention and expectation can sometimes feel like pressure.

To maintain her well-being during the recording and preparation process, she employs a strategy of focusing on authenticity rather than external validation.

I try not to worry about it too much and remind myself that it’s enough to simply be true to who I am. That’s my way of protecting myself. Instead of spending time worrying, I try to focus on living each day fully.
