Blackstone Tactical Opportunities has entered into a partnership structured equity investment in Sunotec, a Bulgaria-based international system integrator specializing in utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. The investment is intended to support the company’s expansion across Europe and enhance its capabilities in renewable energy and grid integration.

The capital infusion will facilitate Sunotec’s growth in several core European markets, specifically Germany, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, and Southeast Europe. Beyond expanding its operational footprint, the partnership aims to accelerate the development of Sunotec’s hybrid renewable energy asset platform and increase its focus on sustainable infrastructure investment throughout the region.

Operational Capacity and Market Track Record

Founded in 2012, Sunotec operates as an international system integrator for integrated energy systems. To date, the company has installed approximately 15 GW of solar capacity across various markets.

Operational Capacity and Market Track Record

In the two-year period leading up to April 7, 2026, Sunotec delivered 5 GW of utility-scale solar and 5 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS). The company has developed a portfolio of energy infrastructure assets that includes a variety of renewable technologies and deployment strategies.

The new investment from Blackstone will enable Sunotec to broaden its existing service offerings and develop new capabilities across three primary areas: power generation, battery storage, and grid infrastructure.

Blackstone’s investment marks an important milestone in Sunotec’s journey. Over the past 13 years, our team has built one of Europe’s leading large-scale solar and storage businesses through execution, speed and a relentless focus on delivery. With Blackstone as a partner, we will accelerate our expansion across Europe and enter selective new markets.

Investment Structure and Governance

Following the investment, Sunotec’s founders and leadership team will remain the majority shareholders and will continue to maintain control of the company.

The investment was executed through funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities. Kirkland & Ellis served as the legal advisor to Blackstone Tactical Opportunities for the transaction.

Sunotec has built a strong track record delivering and operating utility-scale solar and battery storage projects.

The partnership is designed to help Sunotec play a more proactive role in the energy transition occurring across the European continent, capitalizing on the increasing demand for renewable energy and the broader trend of electrification.

Sunotec’s strategy involves leveraging the Blackstone partnership to scale its hybrid renewable energy asset platform, which combines different renewable technologies to optimize energy delivery and storage.
