Updated May 31, 2025
Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber are set to headline UFC Fight Night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, both eyeing a future shot at the women’s flyweight title. The UFC event promises high stakes for these ascending fighters.
Blanchfield (13-2), looking to rebound from a loss to Manon Fiorot, recently defeated Rose Namajunas. Another victory would place her among the top contenders, alongside Natalia Silva and Zhang Weili. She dismissed Barber’s claim that her win over Namajunas was undeserved, suggesting Barber avoids fighting those she envies. The women’s flyweight division is on notice.
Barber (14-2), once dubbed “The Future,” had ambitions of becoming the youngest UFC champion. Now 27, she aims to reignite that momentum. Riding a six-fight win streak, Barber sees a win over Blanchfield as a crucial step toward title contention. She believes she is the more well-rounded fighter.
“Having goals and ambitions, and being very outspoken about them, is crucial,” Barber said. “If you have a goal and dream you’re not willing to share, I think it’s because you have a little bit of doubt. I don’t think anyone shoudl ever doubt themselves, especially if they’re getting into a cage to fight another person.”
Mateusz Gamrot (seventh-ranked lightweight) will face L’udovit Klein. Klein is undefeated in his last seven fights, but Gamrot, despite a recent loss to Dan Hooker, presents a significant challenge.
