Fire Breaks Out at Autonomous Port of Lomé, Four Boats Damaged
A devastating fire broke out on the morning of Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the autonomous port of Lomé (PAL) in Togo. According to reports from the port area authorities, the fire occurred at the PAL wharf, affecting several boats.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:46 am, with firefighters arriving at the scene around 10:05 am. Thanks to the swift response of the firefighters from PAL, ASCNA, and PDC, the fire was brought under control about thirty minutes later.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. However, some material damage was recorded, with four small boats burnt as a result of the fire.
The circumstances or causes of the fire are currently unknown and are likely to be investigated further.
