Blind to Justice: 80-Year-Old Falun Gong Devotee’s Tragic Fate After 8 Years of Darkness

Minghui.com reported that Shi Liangyu was born in 1944 and was a retired employee of a latex factory in Shashi District, Jingzhou City. After the Chinese Communist Party persecuted Falun Gong, he was kidnapped by the police many times.

On February 28, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The police kidnapped her and took her to the Jingzhou Liaison Office in Beijing. She was then brought back and detained there for a month. She was released home after money was extorted from her family.

In late September of the same year, she was abducted from the street by police from the Shashi District Public Security Bureau and illegally detained for two months.

In mid-September 2001, she was kidnapped from the Yangtze River Water Research Institute hostel and handcuffed to a radiator for ten days and nights. She was also punched, kicked and shocked with electric batons. She was then imprisoned in the Jingzhou District Detention Center and was “released on bail pending trial” three months later.

On September 20, 2002, Shi Liangyu was wrongly sentenced to eight years in prison. In early November she was kidnapped and sent to Hubei Provincial Women’s Prison. During this period, she was forced to “transform” (she was forced to give up practicing Falun Gong). Her hair was torn out in clumps and she was brutally force-fed.

Under great pressure, she was forced to write a “letter of guarantee” to give up practicing Falun Gong, but she immediately declared that the promise was invalid and was brutally persecuted. At the instigation of the police, her prisoners deprived her of sleep for a month, beat her severely, blinded her eyes, and completely disfigured her.

On June 14, 2010, when she was released from her unjust imprisonment, she could no longer take care of herself. Blindness brings great difficulties to her life. She died on August 6, 2024, aged 80.

During the more than 20 years of suppression of Falun Gong, the Chinese Communist Party has carried out a brutal “transformation” persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. Under both physical and mental torture, students were maimed, injured, and died, including some who were blinded by the persecution.

Similar to Shi Liangyu’s experience, Falun Gong practitioners in WuhanCai ChangzhenMore than 20 years ago, she was illegally detained in a brainwashing center in Qiaokou District, Wuhan City, in January 2001. During this time, she was brutally beaten and tortured, making her blind. After that, she was no longer able to take care of herself and was repeatedly kidnapped, illegally detained, looted, and harassed by the CCP police. She died wrongfully in March 2023 at the age of 83.

Yang HuirongOriginally from Sanhe Town, Langfang City, Hebei Province, he was illegally hunted down by the “610 Office” (an illegal agency specializing in the persecution of Falun Gong) and the police. He failed to return home and was illegally sent to labor camps and brainwashing centers many times. Under long-term harassment, surveillance and intimidation by community members and police officers at the police station, she became blind in 2015 and was no longer able to take care of herself. She died wrongfully on September 4, 2024, aged 83.

Yang XiaomingA former logistics employee of Kunming Medical College, she was repeatedly persecuted by the CCP. She was forced to have an abortion, divorced, fired from her job, and illegally sent to forced labor twice. She was tortured in various ways in the labor camp and her eyes were beaten and she became blind at the end of 2012. On May 28, 2022, she was abducted by police officers from the police station who broke into her house. She was subsequently sentenced to seven years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan.

Zhao Lizhuanan engineer from Dalian, has been illegally arrested four times since 2000, lost his job, was illegally sentenced to five years in prison, suffered various tortures, and became blind. On May 9, 2024, Zhao Lizhuan and his wife Bai Mei were again kidnapped and illegally detained in Yantai Detention Center.

Sheng ChunmeiOriginally from Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, she was kidnapped and framed with her husband Chen Deguang in July 2011. The couple was illegally sentenced to nine years in prison. She was tortured in Gansu Women’s Prison and suffered from severe diabetes, cataracts, gallstones, suppurative cholecystitis, deafness in both ears and blindness in both eyes. She died wrongfully on October 12, 2017. Her husband was only released from prison in July 2020.

Xu Yanjingan art teacher at Xuanwei Normal College in Qujing city, he was loved by students. He was kidnapped and sent to a brainwashing course in 2003. In 2005, his house was ransacked and illegally sent to a labor camp for three years In 2012, his house was ransacked and illegally sent to a labor camp . Sentenced to 4 years in prison. He was injected with unknown drugs in Women’s Prison No. 2 of Yunnan, causing her to go blind. She was harassed for a long time after she was released from prison.

Zhu Weiyingthe former deputy general manager of Meishan Hotel in Hefei, Anhui Province, has been repeatedly persecuted by the CCP. In June 2011, she was illegally sentenced to eight years in prison and sent to Anhui Provincial Women’s Prison for persecution. Because she refused to be “transformed”, she was tortured with electric batons, poison injections and drugs. In October 2015, she was blinded and her cervical vertebra was stepped on and paralyzed. When she was released from prison in June 2017, her eyes were dull and she cried often. She died unjustly in less than half a month.
