Gaza Strip Attack: US Complicity in Israeli War Crimes

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has condemned the United States for its complicity in the Israeli army’s attack on displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis Governorate in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Observatory’s preliminary investigation revealed that Israeli warplanes dropped three American-made Mk 84 bombs on a gathering of displaced persons‘ tents in the al-Mawasi area, resulting in the deaths of numerous civilians.

The use of American-made bombs with widespread destructive effects in areas full of tents and displaced persons is an indication of the Israeli army’s intention to kill as many civilians as possible.

The target area was a sand dune, and many tents, including entire families, were buried under the sand. The horrific massacre of displaced people in dilapidated tents within an area declared humanitarian is further evidence that international silence on the crime of genocide against Palestinians encouraged Israel to commit more such crimes.

The Observatory emphasized that even if the allegations of the presence of members of armed groups were true, the use of several bombs with great destructive power and the dropping of them in one of the most populated areas with displaced civilians in the Strip cannot be justified.

Civilian Casualties

The Gaza Civil Defense announced that 40 Palestinians were martyred and 60 wounded in the massacre, adding that there were more than 200 tents in the targeted area and that between 20 and 40 tents were completely damaged by the bombing.

Israeli warplanes used heavy missiles, which left 3 deep craters and made whole families disappear under the sand. The Israeli army repeatedly targeted tents and shelters, killing thousands of displaced people and injuring dozens of them.

Last July, the Israeli army carried out a massacre in the same area, resulting in 90 Palestinians dead and 300 injured, in a series of raids targeting tents and Palestinian displacement sites.

International Response

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called for the accountability of countries that are complicit and complicit with Israel in the commission of the crime, the most important of which is the United States, which provides all assistance related to the commission of this crime.

The Observatory emphasized that ignoring this unprecedented massacre of civilians in the history of war constitutes a green light for Israel to commit itself to a clear course of mass killing and extermination of Palestinians.
