Breaking News: Multiple Flights Canceled from Beirut Amid Escalating Tensions
Rafik Hariri International Airport announced the cancellation of over 30 flights from Beirut on Tuesday, as tensions continue to rise in the region.
The airport’s website revealed flight cancellations for various airlines, including Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Emirates companies.
A flydubai spokesperson confirmed to Reuters that flights between Dubai and Beirut have been canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday due to current developments.
Etihad Airways also announced the cancellation of its flights to and from Beirut on Tuesday, citing safety concerns.
Air Arabia canceled its Sharjah-Beirut and Abu Dhabi-Beirut flights for Tuesday, while Qatar Airways suspended all flights from Beirut for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Escalating Violence in Lebanon
On Monday, hundreds of Israeli raids on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon resulted in the deaths of 492 people, including 35 children, marking the heaviest aerial bombardment since the two sides exchanged fire on the border nearly a year ago.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the army is “shifting the security balance” in northern Israel, aiming to return displaced residents to safety.
The Israeli military dubbed its operation against Hezbollah the “Northern Arrow,” claiming to have struck 1,600 Hezbollah targets on the first day.
International Response
The Saudi Foreign Ministry urged the international community to intervene and end the conflict in the region, emphasizing the importance of preserving Lebanon’s stability and respecting its sovereignty.
The escalating violence has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Hezbollah members and civilians in Lebanon, as well as dozens of Israeli soldiers and civilians.
