Bloodshed in Jabaliya: 50 Innocent Lives Lost in 24 Hours of Devastating Israeli Assault

Bloodshed in Jabaliya: 50 Innocent Lives Lost in 24 Hours of Devastating Israeli Assault

November 3, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor News

United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF has condemned Israel’s ‘indiscriminate attack’ on the Gaza Strip. Over 50 children have been killed in strikes by Israel in Jabalia, northern Gaza, in the last 48 hours. Saturday’s (November 2) attack destroyed two residential buildings sheltering hundreds of people in Jabalia. The Qatari media Al Jazeera reported this news.

On Saturday morning, the personal car of a UNICEF worker working on a polio vaccination program was severely damaged by Israeli forces while passing through Jabalia-Elnazla. Fortunately the worker was not injured. But he is very frightened.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Israel fired a stun grenade at the Sheikh Radwan Primary Health Care Center in the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday. At that time, the children’s parents were present there to vaccinate the children against polio. 6 people including 4 children were injured in that attack.

The attack came as Israel agreed to a humanitarian pause in the long-delayed vaccination programme.

According to international humanitarian law, civilians and their infrastructure, ie residential buildings and humanitarian workers and their vehicles, must be protected at all times, UNICEF said.

Transfer or removal orders do not allow a party to treat all persons or places in an area as military targets; Rather, it is essential to distinguish between military and civilian targets in such attacks, maintain balance and take every possible precaution.

But these principles are repeatedly violated, resulting in thousands of children being killed, injured and deprived of the essential services they need to survive.

UNICEF demands an investigation into the attack on its staff and action against those responsible. At the same time, UNICEF calls on member states to ensure respect for international law and influence the protection of children as a priority.
