According to police officer Truman Fitzgerald, the shooting took place at around 11 p.m. in the Five Points South area of Birmingham. Multiple gunmen opened fire on the crowd, resulting in the deaths of two adult males and one adult female, who were pronounced dead on the scene. A fourth victim died after receiving emergency treatment at a local hospital.
Dozens of people were injured in the shooting, with varying degrees of severity. Fitzgerald urged the public to provide any information that could help the investigation.
Several agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), are involved in the investigation. The fire rescue unit rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area.
