Pitching Performance
Marlins’ 22-year-old pitcher, Eury Perez, was the dominant force on the mound. Manager John Schneider acknowledged Perez’s effectiveness, noting the Blue Jays have struggled against both Perez and paul Skenes on this road trip.
Schneider stated: “He’s good. You look back at the road trip and two of the three losses are against him and Skenes and you’ve run into some good pitching. He’s got 100 (m.p.h.) with good movement and it’s tough to gear up for that and hit his off-speed stuff.”
offensive highlights
- Marlins: Eric wagaman hit an early home run, and Jakob Marsee had a bases-clearing triple, giving Miami a 4-0 lead.
- Blue Jays: Daulton varsho hit a late three-run home run to narrow the gap.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s Return
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made his return to the lineup as a pinch hitter after aggravating his left hamstring earlier in the week.He worked a seven-pitch at-bat but ultimately popped up to first base.
Despite a good at-bat, the Blue Jays kept Guerrero Jr. out of the field afterward, indicating his hamstring is not fully healed.
The team adjusted their defensive alignment to accommodate Guerrero Jr.’s limited availability, moving Ernie Clement to first base, Davis Schneider to third, and myles Straw to left field.
Team Record
The blue Jays fell to 76-55 on the season. They will return to Toronto to face the Twins and Brewers.
