Guerrero⁢ Jr. Aims to Build on Sunday’s Success as Jays Host Yankees

Guerrero Jr. Looks to Build on Big Day

In recent weeks, Vladimir Guerrero jr. has been putting in extra work, often heading to the⁢ batting‍ cages after ⁤games even when ‍his teammates are heading home. While it’s an expectation for professional athletes, especially ‍those with important contracts, to ⁢strive for peak⁤ performance, his dedication hasn’t gone⁣ unnoticed by his peers.

“He’s still a human like everyone in that clubhouse, and we have ups and downs,” said starter Berrios. “But one thing I’ve ⁤seen from him is he’s always worked really hard.”

These‍ post-game hitting sessions underscore Guerrero Jr.’s belief that he can ⁢contribute more offensively for the Blue Jays. His efforts began to pay off on Sunday,‍ where he delivered a home run, a walk, and an RBI single. He also⁣ recorded his hardest-hit ball of the day, a 111.3 m.p.h. line out in the fifth inning.

Entering Monday’s play,Guerrero Jr. is hitting .278 with 13 home runs and an .824 OPS. While these are solid numbers, they still trail his career averages of .287 ⁣with an .859 OPS and 31⁤ home runs per 162 games.Facing a tough opponent like Aaron Judge and the Yankees presents a prime opportunity for Guerrero Jr. to build on his recent performance.

“I ⁢hope so,” ‍Schneider⁣ commented.”Vlad’s always right ‍there. ⁤You look up, and some people say ‍his numbers are pedestrian for his own standards, but he’s still hitting the⁤ ball really hard (and) his at-bat quality is really good. If (Sunday) gets‍ him going and hitting the ball in⁢ the air a little bit,it’s fine by me.”

Jays Enjoy Last Chance at Home

This series marks the Blue⁣ Jays’ final home stand ⁣against the New York Yankees in the regular season. Fortunately for Toronto, ‍they’ve found a rhythm at Rogers Center, having won their last 10 home games, including recent sweeps⁤ against the Yankees, Angels, and Giants.Following this series, the Blue Jays won’t face the Yankees again until early September, when they travel to Yankee Stadium for a three-game set to conclude their season series. Any further matchups between these two⁢ storied franchises would only occur in the postseason, a stage where they⁢ have yet to cross paths.
