Blugolds Dominate Northland College in WIAC Opener
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s hockey team defeated Northland College 11-0 in their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener on Friday at the Bay Area Civic Center. The victory was just one goal shy of the program record for most goals in a game.
Game Highlights:
- UW-Eau Claire (3-1-0, 1-0-0) scored five goals in the first period and continued strong, adding three in the second and three more in the third.
- Three players scored two goals each: Gretta Pioske, Sadie Long, and Kenzie Keller. This was the first goal for Pioske as a Blugold.
- Sam Moehle contributed significantly with one goal and three assists, totaling four points. Keller, Keira Bolt, and Maddie Hulter each added two assists.
- In total, eight different Blugolds scored. Ella Hansen scored her first career goal, joined by Samantha Bandholz, Ellie Anderson, and Ava Webster on the score sheet.
- Goalie Alexa Backmann recorded a shutout, saving all eight shots against her.

The Blugolds will face UW-Superior on Saturday, November 16, with puck drop scheduled for 2 p.m.
