BMW Doubles Down on ‍its Own Tech, Skips Apple CarPlay Ultra

BMW is choosing‌ too prioritize its own in-car experience and is not adopting Apple CarPlay Ultra. The ​company believes CarPlay Ultra, which fully transforms a car’s interface with an Apple aesthetic, clashes with its brand identity.

Instead, BMW is⁢ continuing to invest heavily in its iDrive system, focusing on ⁤larger screens, immersive AR elements, and enhanced intelligence.‌

To improve its voice assistant capabilities, BMW is partnering with Alexa+, utilizing alexa Custom assistant.​ This allows them to leverage existing technology⁣ rather then⁣ building a new system from scratch.

The new assistant‌ is expected ⁢to roll out in ‌BMW models soon, though⁤ specific model availability and potential‍ upgrades for older vehicles remain unconfirmed.
