BNP Cracks Down: Party Leaders Face the Law Amidst Allegations of Wrongdoing
BNP Takes Action Against Party Leaders for Unethical Activities
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has initiated legal proceedings against 20 party leaders, including BNP Joint Convenor Mymensingh South District and Bhaluka Upazila Convener Fakhruddin Ahmed Bachchu, for misusing the party’s name to gain unethical benefits from various institutions.
According to Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP’s media cell, the accused individuals were expelled from the party on September 1. A written complaint was filed by BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince at the Mymensingh Bhaluka Police Station on September 2, seeking legal action against the accused.
Syed Emran Saleh Prince stated that the party has been warning its members against engaging in immoral activities under the guise of the BNP. He emphasized that the party’s leadership, including Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman, has taken institutional disciplinary action against the accused and will also pursue legal action to protect the party’s image.
Tariq Rahman has adopted a strict policy to address these issues, ensuring that the sacrifices and commitments of BNP leaders and activists over the past 15 years are not undermined by the actions of a few individuals.
This move comes after Tariq Rahman took action against individuals occupying a canal site in the capital’s Mohammadpur area under the pretext of being BNP members. On his orders, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Member Secretary Aminul Haque and other leaders vacated the building and filed a complaint at the police station.
