Bob Dylan Tribute Concert at Little City Books in Hoboken: Celebrating ‘A Complete Unknown’
Little City Books in Hoboken will host a Bob Dylan cover concert on December 12 at 7 p.m. This event celebrates the store’s inclusion in the upcoming film “A Complete Unknown,” which releases on December 25. Key scenes were filmed at the bookstore and in other New Jersey locations.
The film is based on Elijah Wald’s 2015 book “Dylan Goes Electric!” It portrays Bob Dylan’s life from 1961 to 1965, featuring Timothée Chalamet as Dylan, Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, and Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez.
Performers for the concert include Freedy Johnston, Karyn Kuhl, James Mastro, Elena Skye, Boo Reiners, and several others, including a group of young musicians recruited by Little City Books co-owner Kate Jacobs.
Jacobs described the excitement of transforming the store into a 1960s record shop for filming, stating, “They spent a week turning us into the Music Inn… It was very exciting.”
Artist Deena Shoshkes expressed the impact of Dylan’s music, calling it a “towering monument” that continues to inspire her songwriting. Freedy Johnston reflected on the influence of Dylan’s lyrics and his favorite albums, stating, “I think Bob has influenced every musician…”
Other songs to be performed during the concert include classics like “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” and “Tangled Up in Blue.” For more information, visit Little City Books.
