Boeing Offers Improved Wages to End Workers’ Strike
Boeing has made a revised offer to its striking workers, proposing a significant wage increase in an effort to bring an end to the labor dispute.
American media reports indicate that the new offer, which includes a 38% pay rise over the next four years, will be put to a vote by the affected workers on Monday.
The International Association of Engineers and Aerospace Workers (IAM), the union representing over 30,000 workers in the United States, has endorsed the proposal and will oversee the voting process.
The strike, which began on September 13, has resulted in a substantial slowdown in production, highlighting the need for a swift resolution.
While the union had initially called for a 40% pay rise, the proposed 38% increase represents a notable improvement on the previous offers, which included a 35% pay rise that was rejected by workers.
The IAM has expressed confidence in the revised offer, stating that it believes the gains made so far are sufficient to warrant an end to the strike.
According to Boeing, the proposed wage increase will bring the average annual salary for employees to $119,309.
