Strong Earthquake Shakes Bogotá, Colombia: No Casualties Reported

A powerful earthquake rattled Bogotá and other Colombian cities on sunday morning, causing widespread concern.The seismic activity, measuring 6.5 in magnitude,was reported by the National Geological Service. While there where no immediate reports of injuries, it was among the strongest tremors felt in the capital in recent years.
Sirens blared across residential areas as residents,some still in pajamas,rushed into streets and parks. The U.S. Institute of Geophysics estimated the earthquake’s magnitude at 6.3. The epicenter was located in Paratebueno, a town approximately 187 kilometers from Bogotá.
