BOISE, Idaho – Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, the nation’s leading rusher, confirmed Thursday that he will forgo his remaining eligibility and enter the NFL draft after this season.
Jeanty, who has amassed a staggering 2,288 yards on 312 carries and 28 total touchdowns this season, has been projected as a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. currently ranks him sixth on his Big Board.
The electrifying junior is on the cusp of history.he needs just 341 yards to surpass Barry Sanders’ all-time single-season rushing record. With at least two games remaining, including Friday’s Mountain West Championship game, Jeanty has a real shot at etching his name in the record books.
“I feel like I’m the best player in the country,” Jeanty declared confidently at the Mountain West Conference championship news conference. “I’ve put that on notice every single week, and it’s just the same thing. I take it week by week. If I’m picked to win [the Heisman], I win. But my focus right now is going out and playing my best football for my teammates and coaches and winning a championship.”
Friday’s showdown against UNLV (10-2, 6-1, No. 20 CFP) presents Jeanty with a prime opportunity to make his final Heisman Trophy case. The nationally televised game will showcase Jeanty’s talents to a wide audience.
