A total of 1,720,000 measles vaccine doses have been distributed nationwide, with availability confirmed in all departments as of Monday, September 1, 2025. These doses are being channeled through health and municipal networks to ensure widespread access.
The age expansion is a direct response to data indicating that the highest concentration of measles infections is occurring within the 0-19 age group.Immunizing school-aged children is expected to significantly disrupt transmission chains within educational settings.
Protecting healthcare Workers and Implementing Preventative Measures
Health personnel are also being prioritized for vaccination, with a two-dose regimen recommended due to their potential exposure to infected individuals. This measure aims to protect frontline healthcare workers and maintain the capacity of the health system.
In addition to vaccination, authorities are reinforcing preventative measures such as frequent handwashing and the use of elbow coverings when coughing or sneezing. Students exhibiting respiratory symptoms are advised to stay home from school to prevent further spread of the virus, in accordance with national biosafety protocols.
